Welcome

The Carlile Institute is run entirely by volunteers.

The community business, "Meltham Carlile Limited" fully owns The Carlile Institute. The Board of Trustees are responsible for the upkeep and governance of the building. We also have the Carlile Support Group, who take care of the room hire, organise events such as concerts, film nights, fundraisers and other social events such as Art Week and the Meltham Community Day. Our volunteers run licensed bars for these when required.

In addition, we offer office space in the Carlile Institute Business Centre, community space available to hire and our impressive community owned Post Office branch. We are also home to a dance school, Meltham Library and Meltham Town Council

The largest of our rooms is the beautifully restored Jubilee Room, with original wood panelling and wooden floors. This is used for concerts, private functions, local community groups, fitness and dance classes and much more.

We also have a smaller meeting room, The Edward Brook Room, with up to date facilities, including an overhead projector, drop down screen and USB points. On the ground floor is the Community Room, which is suitable for a variety of activities, such as fitness and craft classes, Kitchen facilities are also available.

There are regular craft fairs, run by the Makers Market group. In addition there are other health and wellness fairs. Details of many of the groups and activities, both in the Carlile and around Meltham, can be found in the Meltham Community Directory.
