Theatre comes to The Carlile
April starts our Theatre programme this year with another visit by the ever-popular Mikron team on Tuesday, April 16. Tickets have been snapped up for All Hands on Deck but it’s worth checking for the few that are left.
 
We are delighted to announce that the remainder of our 2019 programme will be supported with a grant from the Arts Council, underlining the Carlile’s importance as a theatre venue and helping us to attract new theatre goers.
 
Saturday, May 18, when Grist to the Mill presents An Evening with Miss Wong, which tells the life story of one of Hollywood's most glamorous stars, Anna May Wong.  Fighting against prejudice and ignorance, she rose to become one of the acting elite: the leading lady that was not allowed to kiss her leading man. The play is inter-leaved with songs and clips from her films and will be followed by a Q and A session for audience participation with the producers. ​ https://www.gristtheatre.co.uk/an-evening-with-miss-wong
 
Saturday, June 15, we bring puppet theatre to the Carlile with Cusan Theatre’s production of The Princess of the Rain Forest and this will be combined with a workshop to encourage our younger audience to discover more. http://www.cusantheatre.com/
 
Arts Council funding has allowed us to offer early-bird prices: £5 for Adults, £2 for Seniors and free for students and accompanied children. Prices after the end of April for Miss Wong will be £10 or £8 concessions.  As ever, these will be available from The Flower Box, Café 33 or by contacting 07587 709747
